Wildebeest herd crossing a river on the Great Migration

Beyond Tanzania

Tanzania and East Africa, in One Journey

Add the Masai Mara, mountain gorillas, Victoria Falls or Lake Malawi to your Tanzania safari. Cross by road or fly, choose Classic, Signature or Bespoke, and we arrange every border, flight and guide.

Why Combine

One Trip. Two Countries. Twice the Story.

An East Africa safari combo starts in Tanzania and continues into a neighbouring country, joined by a road border crossing or a short regional flight, with one operator handling every leg.

You have already flown a long way. A few extra days can add gorillas in the mist, the Masai Mara, Victoria Falls or the source of the Nile. We plan the route, flights, border crossings, permits and guides on both sides, so it feels like one journey, not two.

How to Connect

Many Ways to Cross

Tanzania shares borders with eight countries. Depending on your route, you can cross by road at a border post or take a short regional flight. We choose the fastest, most comfortable option for your plan.

By road

Scenic and flexible, with your vehicle and guide right up to the border.

By air

The fastest option, leaving more time in the parks.

Questions

East Africa Safari Questions

Can I combine a Tanzania safari with Kenya, Rwanda or Uganda?

Yes. Most guests add 3 to 6 days in Kenya, Rwanda or Uganda after their Tanzania safari, connected by a road border crossing or a short flight. We arrange every leg.

How do I cross from Tanzania to Kenya by road?

The main crossings are Namanga (Arusha to Nairobi and Amboseli), Sirari / Isebania (Serengeti side to the Masai Mara), Holili / Taveta (Moshi to Tsavo and Amboseli) and Horohoro / Lunga Lunga on the coast. We choose the best one for your route.

Does the East Africa Tourist Visa cover Tanzania?

No. The East Africa Tourist Visa covers Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda only. Tanzania requires its own visa or entry approval. We tell you exactly what you need for your route before you book.

Which is better for gorillas, Rwanda or Uganda?

Both offer excellent mountain gorilla trekking. Rwanda is quicker to reach and more polished; Uganda's Bwindi is usually more affordable and pairs well with chimpanzee trekking.

Can I add Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique or Burundi?

Yes. Zambia and Malawi connect well with southern Tanzania and Ruaha, Mozambique adds islands and reefs, and Burundi pairs with Lake Tanganyika and Gombe. We plan these by road or air.

Can I choose Classic, Signature or Bespoke for an East Africa combo?

Yes. Every combo can be built in any tier, and you can mix styles across countries, for example Classic in Tanzania and Signature for gorilla trekking.

How many days do I need for a Tanzania and East Africa combo?

Plan at least 9 to 10 days in total: around 5 to 6 days in Tanzania and 3 to 4 days in the second country.

When is the best time for an East Africa safari combo?

June to October is the most popular time, with dry weather for wildlife and gorilla trekking. December to February is also good. Each country has its own seasons, and we plan around them.
