Near the entrance, an unusual groundwater forest thrives on natural springs fed by the escarpment, creating dense, shaded woodland that's home to large troops of olive baboons and blue monkeys — a landscape that feels closer to a rainforest than a typical safari park. The park is most famous for its tree-climbing lions, a local behavior (not unique to Manyara, but strongly associated with it) where lions rest in the branches of acacia and sycamore fig trees — a genuine possibility on a game drive here, though not a guaranteed sighting on any single visit.
