Cost and Booking
How Much Does a Tanzania Safari Cost?
A private Tanzania safari with Yera Journeys costs from USD 770 per person. The final price depends on four things: how many days you travel, the season, the level of accommodation and how many people share the vehicle.
Tanzania Safari Cost Per Person by Journey Style
| Journey style | Price | Accommodation |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | From USD 770 per person | Comfortable lodges and camps with private bathrooms |
| Signature | From USD 2,345 per person | More space, stronger locations and higher service |
| Bespoke | From USD 5,000 per person | The finest lodges and private camps in each park |
You can mix Classic, Signature and Bespoke stays within one safari.
What Makes Up the Price of a Safari
Five costs make up almost every safari price.
- Park and conservation fees. Charged per person, per day, by each national park. This is often the largest single cost.
- Accommodation. Lodges and tented camps on a full-board basis.
- Vehicle and guide. A private 4x4 with a pop-up roof, fuel and a professional guide.
- Flights inside Tanzania. Needed for fly-in safaris to Ruaha, Nyerere, Katavi, Mahale and the Northern Serengeti.
- Meals and drinking water throughout the safari.
Tanzania Safari Prices 2027: What Changes the Cost
- Season. June to October and late December are the busiest months, and prices are highest. April and May are the quietest, and prices are lowest.
- Number of days. Each extra day adds park fees, accommodation and vehicle costs.
- Group size. The vehicle and guide are shared, so four travellers pay less per person than two.
- Location. Remote parks reached by flight cost more than parks reached by road.
- Level of stay. A Bespoke camp can cost several times more per night than a Classic lodge.
What Is Included in a Safari Price
Included: park fees, accommodation, all meals on safari, private 4x4 vehicle, professional guide, drinking water, airport transfers.
Not included: international flights, visa, travel insurance, tips, drinks at the lodge, optional activities such as a balloon safari (from USD 550 to 600 per person).
How to Lower the Cost of Your Safari
- Travel in April, May or November.
- Travel as a group of four to six and share the vehicle.
- Join a scheduled group safari instead of booking a private one.
- Choose parks reached by road instead of by flight.
- Mix levels: Classic for most nights, one or two nights at a Signature camp.
The Cheapest Time for a Tanzania Safari
April and May are the cheapest months. It is the green season, with afternoon rain, few vehicles and lower lodge rates. Wildlife is still excellent in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire. Some remote camps in Southern and Western Tanzania close during these months.
