Overview

See more of Tanzania. Sit in fewer vehicles.

Seeing three of Tanzania's best ecosystems in one trip usually means long road transfers eating into the days you came for. This journey replaces every leg between parks with a short flight — the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti's plains, and Ruaha's wild south, connected entirely by light aircraft.

"Zero road time" refers to travel between destinations. Short airstrip-to-lodge road transfers — typically under 30 minutes — are unavoidable within each park and aren't counted against that promise.

"I used to watch guests spend a whole day of their trip staring out a vehicle window between parks. This itinerary exists because that day belongs in the bush, not on the highway." — Founder, Yera Journeys

Kilimanjaro at dawn, Tanzania

What You'll Do Today

Land at Kilimanjaro International Airport and connect directly onto a light aircraft bound for the Ngorongoro Highlands — this itinerary skips the usual Arusha stopover entirely. By evening, you're settled on the crater rim for a welcome briefing with your guide, watching the light fall over one of the most striking landscapes in Africa.

Ngorongoro Crater floor, Tanzania

What You'll Do Today

Descending into the crater is one of this circuit's defining moments — over 250 square kilometres of grassland, lake, and forest sealed inside a volcanic caldera, holding lion, elephant, hippo, and one of East Africa's last strongholds of black rhino. A full day is spent tracing the crater floor before returning to the rim.

What You'll Do Today

Rather than a long road transfer through the Ngorongoro Highlands, a short flight puts you in the Serengeti within the hour. That saved time goes straight back into the day: an afternoon game drive on arrival, while the light is at its best.

What You'll Do Today

The Serengeti needs little introduction — endless plains, resident lion prides, leopard in the riverine trees, and cheetah on the open grassland. For those who want it, a hot air balloon safari at dawn drifts silently over the plains, followed by a champagne breakfast on landing.

What You'll Do Today

A light-aircraft transfer takes you from the Serengeti south to Ruaha — Tanzania's largest national park, and one of its least visited. After landing, an afternoon orientation drive introduces you to a completely different landscape: baobab-studded hills in place of open plains.

What You'll Do Today

Ruaha holds some of the largest lion prides recorded anywhere in Africa, drawn by the Great Ruaha River that anchors the park's ecosystem even in the dry season. Morning and evening game drives take advantage of the cooler hours, when wildlife is most active — and with so few other vehicles in the park, sightings are yours alone.

For those who want it, a guided walking safari offers a different register entirely — tracking, reading signs, and moving through the bush at the pace the land sets, with an armed ranger and your guide. As the day cools, a dusk game drive gives you one more chance at whatever Ruaha has to offer.

What determines the price

Pricing on this journey starts from $4,200 per person and varies based on three factors.

Group Size

This is always a private safari — a private guide travels with you at each destination. Even so, group size affects your per-person rate: light-aircraft transfers and camp costs are shared within your own travelling party, so a larger private group reduces the per-person cost.

Season

Tanzania's dry season (roughly June–October) and peak holiday periods carry premium lodge and flight rates; green season travel offers meaningful savings, with rewarding game viewing across Ngorongoro, the Serengeti, and Ruaha.

Lodge Tier

This is our Signature tier. Bespoke tier is also available on this same route — selected with you during planning — and includes the option of private charter flights throughout, in place of scheduled light-aircraft transfers.

Ruaha camps are limited in number and fill early — we recommend booking this itinerary at least 6 months ahead for best availability.

What Our Clients Say

Told by the travelers who skipped the road time

Tripadvisor Verified

“We worried eight days wouldn't be enough to see three parks properly, but skipping the long drives between Ngorongoro, the Serengeti, and Ruaha meant every day was actually spent watching wildlife. Ruaha in particular felt like we had the whole park to ourselves.”

Robert & Ana P. · Canada, May 2025

Google Verified

“The flights between camps were smooth and saved us so much time — we landed at each airstrip and were on a game drive within the hour. The lion prides in Ruaha were the highlight of the whole trip.”

Hana K. · Netherlands, September 2025

Tripadvisor Verified

“A well-organised itinerary with almost no time lost to driving. The Ngorongoro Crater and the camp on the Ruaha river were both excellent.”

Common Questions

Fly-In Signature Safari

Ngorongoro, the Serengeti, and Ruaha are each several hours apart by road, and Ruaha in particular is too remote for a road transfer to make sense within an 8-day trip. Light-aircraft transfers keep every day focused on the wildlife itself rather than travel time.
