Types of walking safaris in Tanzania

Four ways to walk. Most guests combine two in one day.

  • Giraffes walking across green grassland in a Tanzania national park

    Wildlife walks

Track giraffe, buffalo, zebra and elephant on foot, learning to read spoor, wind and alarm calls.

  • An eagle standing on short grass in a Tanzania national park

    Bird walks

Tanzania has over 1,100 bird species. Walk lakeshores, forest and woodland with a guide who knows them by call.

  • Insect and small-life walks

Butterflies, dung beetles, termite mounds, antlions and chameleons. The small life that runs the ecosystem.

  • Community walks

Villages, farms and markets with a local host: Maasai bomas, the Hadzabe at Lake Eyasi, coffee farms below Mount Meru.
